Fridays with Farissa

Episode 5: Reading Rainbow Edition

I used to think that one of the hardest things to do was to write your truth in story form without editing based on what peoples’ opinions might be. Although that was hard when I wrote the first edition of my book, Love, Sex + Friendship: In No Particular Order back in the early 2000’s, I have since come to realize that there is something quite harder- reading it out loud for people to feel. And since I am all about putting myself in uncomfortable situations in order to foster personal growth, of course I had to read some of my favorite passages from my book now that I am working with a publishing company to professionally publish a second edition expected out Spring of 2019.

In this week’s video, I dive into some of my most favorite passages to have written or lived through to come out on the other side. Hope you enjoy!

Episode 4: Racism and Inequality – Preschool Edition

A Must Watch! This week I tell a true story involving my daughter and her first experience with racism and being treated ‘less then’ because of the color of her skin. I am sharing this for a few reasons. First, because it feels good to get it off my chest and tell someone. Second, because I meet too many people who say, ‘I don’t know anyone who gets treated differently because they are black’. I think the more we tell our stories, the more people will realize these kind of things are happening all around us, every day and it’s up to everyone alive right now to make it better!

Episode 3: Real Parenting Advice

Warning: This is very funny! In this week’s episode, I ignored the normal topics that most people feel qualified to give parenting advice on, you know, sleep training, education and breastfeeding, to name a few- and decided to concentrate on the real questions your kids will start to ask you as they grow up and start thinking, talking and doing things on their own.

Episode 2: A Day in The Life

When you run and own two companies, have two kids under the age of 6, have a successful husband and are HUMAN, day to day life can be busy, stressful and a non-stop rollercoaster. With no real accurate way to describe what a day in the life of Farissa Knox is like, I made an attempt to capture it myself and let the footage tell the story.

Episode 1: The Suite Situation

It has been a very long time since I have published anything on my personal site. For the past 2 years I have been grinding on my businesses, really trying to take things to the next level. Albeit none of that has changed, it is the right time for me to start investing in my personal brand again. So selfishly, in an attempt to have cool, inspiring, entertaining content on my site and the need for a platform to vent my personal thoughts and opinions, I created this series, Friday’s with Farissa.

I will be posting weekly videos that will be about anything that matters to me at the moment or that is weighing heavy on my mind or heart. I hope to have you laugh, cry and feel along with me as I share my video diary with the two of you that visit my site. You’ll get to learn new things about me, what I’m working on, what motivates me and all of my crazy life experiences.

In episode 1, I start off by answering questions from those closes to me. Let me know what you think and what you hope to see come out of this.

Thanks for watching!
